Tinkers Construct - Can't build crossbow

I tried to build a crossbow in ftb Infinity but the tool forge doesn't let me take the tool out of the tool forge

The parts are:
Paper Binding
Blue Slime Limb
Cobalt Body
Flamestring

I didn't realize you couldn't just put the flame string into the tool forge. You have to build it using 3 flame string in the part builder.

You do not understand the feeling of that moment when I looked in the part builder and was like "oh."

I think I've done this at least once before. Its not 100% intuitive that you need to use string to make string.

To make matters worse, it's (I believe) 3 string to make 1 string

I don't dispute that it makes sense. It makes lots of sense. Its just not intuitively obvious. Which is proven by how often only-partially-stupid people like myself get tripped up on it.

Hahaha I guess that's true! I actually quite enjoy TiC but I haven't used it that much. What is it you don't like about it?

Oh, we all do. Trust me, we've all been there at one point or 'nother.

Blue Slime isn't bad for the limb for a rapid-fire crossbow, but Plastic or Pink Slime is actually better. Of course, if you have ExtraTiC, you can go take Balance behind the woodshed with Signalum, but you might not have that capacity. I also wouldn't waste Cobalt on your stock since it is just your handle. I'd go with either Thaumium or Steel.
