i found turtles /facepalm now all i do is fart around with lua!

The potato gun is kind of annoying isnt it :D < golf clap sound> " Yep that still works!" /facepalm

I think I may have the excuse to upgrade my computer now, whenever i do stuff with turtles it takes my memory usage to max ( i have 4gb and the client is set for 2gb, and both my processor cores to 100%
what is that lua interpreter doing ...

/edit

Larry, Curly, Moe, and Shemp of course :D

mean idea of the day, i started in a mini jungle, with quicksand, when i set up my farms, gonna surround them with a 2 wide quicksand moat :D

Ah, turtles are stupendous... I have to resist using them for everything (I'll leave that to Guude), just so that I can get some variety and better footage using other tools. Haven't noticed increased memory usage, I'll have to take a look at that...

I need to catch up on Guude's FTB videos too, but I have to sleep some time, i think. oh, i think my memory problems are coming only when i do something like use the excavate on say, an 8x8 and put a water block above the center, to collect obsidian, apparently a lot of flowing water is bad, and when I do it with 4 turtles at once :) well, the results are not CPU friendly.

I was at work last night and i realized, /facepalm moment ... linking books, i have linking books ... why am I walking back from my expeditions when I could be using a nether hub! Ah well, live and learn! *note* Yeah, I have yet to see a cow, I need to explore this world more. that's why I haven't used books yet.

Nice work on the bees, I lost the world where i had two apibags full of bees, forgot to backup my saves when i deleted the folder, working on the superwaterturtlelag issue, Luckily, I like this game :) I am a pack rat by nature. turtles eat bee hives and return no bees ...

i am completely clearing the 3x3 chunk space under my base, going to set up layers of turtle farms, feed coke ovens with wood, and burn both the charcoal and the creosote for power. setting up the first 16x16x16 now, 2 layers of trees -> X coke ovens + Y semi fluid generators -> step up to HV for transmission to base, I need to read up on how power loss vs distance works with cables, not ready to spend diamonds on glass fiber cable yet . . . FTB has really extended the game for me, so much to learn! ( must compare coke ovens/creosote vs standard electric furnaces for convenience. Using all my coal for diamonds, so no need for coke ovens yet ?)

todo: I forgot to disable the advanced gregtech recipes, i might just disable the suppermatterfabricator one, and leave the rest, I dont know yet. using a pulverizer now, as the steel/diamonds for the macerator stinks :D

I still haven't touched Thaumcraft yet, i'll get around to it, gotta get the turtles set up, and the power system, and the farms, and the tree farms, and .... so much to do!

I am not sure how you fit so much stuff in :) I havent found a link to your other video series, it's not on the same youtube account? I need to look more, maybe after I set this turtle run up :D

Nice vid, thank you

interesting note: lost control of 4 turtles underwater, due to a crash when i was looking something up in NEI. scuba'd them out, got back to my lair, 2 mining turtles, and 2 virgin turtles ... I didn't know turtles were breakable! Down 6 diamonds and about 180 lava buckets in injested fuel.

One of these days, I might do something with GregTech. Maybe a separate short series where I try to conquer it and, say, do a speedrun to quickly get to the most advanced machines. Problem is, GregTech adds a lot of artificial difficulty in the form of time-wasting and grinding, so a speedrun could be a difficult thing to manage...might be an interesting challenge though!

Sounds like a bug to me, possibly to do with the crash. Weird.

It's there, I just haven't been keeping up with it as well as FTB at the moment. Here's the first episode:

(edit: spelling and punctuation > me, also not, the first line is the whole reason I started this post. the first village I found had it lol)

New Mystcraft item : Village building, with writing desk and lecterns with pages and a couple bookshelves

I had to restart in the Direwolf20 modpack something about the Mindcrack pack no longer plays nice with my system, the only messages I get in the console is "system stopping"

Still watching your vids and playing catchup, I did do some playing around with bees, i got flower loving normal/normal +- 1 flower loving tropical bees, out of converting my marsh bees with the drones from my one Tropical princess tho :)

I finally got into thermal expansion, really loving the energy frame power storage, and I agree the solar panels are ... flavorless ? ... just a way to convert a large amount of resources into endless power
take 1 MFE + 1 medium voltage array + 4 low voltage arrays + 4 electrolyzers, that puts out just a hair more than 128 eu/t sunny with charged electrolyte cells, 4 of those into a MFSU, powering 32 electrical engines with the circuit board tube that reduces EU usage, and I could load redstone energy cells faster than my 2 quarries could use them up, perpetually charged lap packs, advanced power tools/nano armor etc. and still have EU left over by the bucket full.

That took more copper to set up than there are copper pennies in circulation in the world though! If I had kept going I would have been doing UU matter to copper conversions,(i think)

I find that metal scaffolding is nice for building walls, topped with a row of the block of your choice, I am getting to be a big fan of xycraft blocks ( not xycorium ones, the bricks and plates and stuff ) for their no mob-spawning utility,

Wish there were marble pavers, like the basalt ones, and stairs for both, though, I guess I could build them with microblocks.

I still haven't gotten into the assembly table, though, that would have been my next thing, and using wrench turtles to detect redstone signals for full cells and empty ones.

Finding it rough going to start in DW20 pack as I keep looking for items that just aint there!

I am surprised you don't use linking books more often for normal movement, I had a nether hub, with books to most interesting places.

Annoying thing with green hills biome, it's damp :) forest, meadows, etc didn't them at all, i built a grass platform out into the ocean which is a normal/normal biome, and had badlands and tiaga within a few chunks as well, so I had all 4 biome choices within normal chunk loading range of my base.

Sorry for the long rambling post! You are the only person I have ever had any contact with about Minecraft :) I enjoy it quite a bit for it's sandbox.

Crud I just remembered, i forgot to screenshot my ToDo Wall :) about 20 signs of things I just couldn't quite find time to get around to !

Thanks for the vids, I re-watch a bunch of them to get ideas, nice work on the plant breeding :)

I had 2 villagers fall down into my base ( my extensions ended up under the village i started near, and i triggered accidentally, infinite breeding .. of course, I was out of the area, and had a chunk loader.

What a mess

Not sure what you have planned, but here is my villager management idea, use a contraption, to send villagers down a hallway pushed by water, limited access so as not to get 2 in 1 cell . they fall into a 3 deep cell triggering a pressure plate. the plate triggers a piston to close the top of the cell, and a piston to open the window to the trading floor. a 3rd piston on a switch will be used to suffocate villagers that outlive their usefulness, and once they die, the pressure plate releases, opening the cell for the next villager to get washed by. when all the cells in the row are occupied. a signal is sent to a piston at the start of the hallway to close that hallway to further access. until you decide one has lived out it's usefulness. issues to deal with : excess villagers in the hallway, someway to recycle them to the breeding/storage chamber.

And, my animal farm: each cell will have 2 animals stored in minecarts, with spaces around, so the spawn will fall down into the storage chamber,(water drop) with a feeder. when the feeder is empty, have it trigger a timer, to give the last baby time to mature, then dump them into the processing chamber, either a lava blade setup, or just a kill setup, obsidian pipe -> processing system. after triggering the dump, the timer system will trigger a pipe to reload the feeder.

fully automatic :) attach to automatic food farm of your choice :)

I am going to work on the second one first, after I get my thermal expansion tech base set up, I still need to figure out everything I can't do, because I am not using the Mindcrack pack any more, I do have tin buckets back now tho! No more gregtech!

Sorry again for the rambling post!

No problem, I like reading your rambling posts. Sounds like you have a lot of interesting stuff going on!

The reason I don't use linking books much is essentially the same reason I don't use solar panels. Just as I get a lot of interesting gameplay from exploring different power systems, I also get a lot from actually traveling when I need to go somewhere. Since the mods throw Minecraft's game balance completely out of whack, there are a few features I'd rather use sparingly just to keep my things interesting.

Haven't planned much for villagers yet, but what you described sounds relatively close to what I was thinking, though I'd like to do it with Railcraft stuff if possible rather than water and pistons. Where I always seem to get stuck is thinking about how much space it'll take and where I'm going to put it... I think I just need to level a bunch of land around my base so that I have a nice flat space to work. Guess I could also build some sky platforms...maybe that's the way to go!

How do you get the villagers into and out of the carts automatically without breaking the carts? I saw it done with lava in a dispenser and an incredibly fast pulse shortener in vanilla minecraft by Docm77, that's why Iwanted to try the self reloading, pressure plate, pistons, and water

edit: sorry for the video link, I didn't know the forums would do that.

Dunno yet. I'm hoping Railcraft provides something that could do it (or maybe Steve's Carts? BTC gave Beef a cage cart for moving animals around his zoo in a recent video, so maybe that would be an option). If not, there's a way to break minecarts automatically using a cactus. Going to be really tricky to get that setup to work perfectly, though.

Yeah too much going on! I can't decide where to settle, i have all of extra biomes turned on, just running the default Direwolf20 mod pack, I found a corner with wasteland, ice wasteland, woodland, giving me normal/normal. cold/arid and hot/arid, and it is close to a village. I however, want a tall volcano.
This complicates things!

Going to tag this one with the waypoint Conjuction Function, and start a chest collection and a flax farm to get some bags running.

Using carrots as your main food group has funny side effects :) I feel like the pied piper some times when I leave them selected as I am running around.

Did I have a post deleted? I thought I linked you a vid about vanilla railcart villager trading stationl

edit 1: oooohh, I guess this tab hadnt updated yet, I must have posted to this thread from a different tab lol
edit 2: doh, watched the video, guess he just used a button on the dispenser, now I can't remember where i saw the lava blade via a fast pulse used.... my head is a busy place...

I goofed off a bit in my Mindcrack world between scouting runs in my Direwolf20 world.

A lot of new toys today! I built an assembly table with 6 lasers, powered via my redstone energy cells. built 16 gates and and automated my REC recharging, used my only 3 Ender pearls to make 2 pulsating chipsets, and a wireless reciever and transmitter, the gates under the floor, under my recharging cells, trigger the wireless signal to the overhead electrical engines attached to the MFSU. I then built a fabriowatchamacallit(thermionic fabricator), and put efficiency ciircuit boards(iron tube in the basic board) in my electrical engines.

I also used 2 redstone energy cells as a buffer for my thermal expansion and forestry equipment, one feeds the other, and when the first one is empty it sends a signal to start charging.

The whole point of this is to stop the engine flickering when am using less power than the engines put out per cycle. my original simple gate, signal on when empty would still cause flickering, but wouldn't waste MJ, so I am going to try the RS NOR latch from RP2

I now possess a level 4 skelly shard, I have 2 more burial grounds to visit, I will use them to push it over the top when I get to 624 kills ( around 100 to go!)

I am really starting to love the red alloy wire :D

Yeah, so I am getting less than enthusiastic about abandoning this world, I have a bit of work in it! I suppose I could transfer some stuff over (NEI) but that feels icky lol.

I am going to start planning a new PC build this week. I build this computer in 2008 and while nice, I never did get the memory to auto-detect settings, so it is running at 1333 instead of 2000, the only upgrade I could do to this PC would be a quad core extreme socket 775, last time I looked an unused one was over $1800 I think.

Alternativly I could do something silly like go to Creeperhost or whatever and rent a server to run FTB Mindcrack on, silly ? :)

I hope that the problems I have in the mindcrack pack are just amplified by my old hardware, fingers crossed.

Please, if I am cluttering up your thread let me know! As I was typing this I starting thinking that this might be too much of a thread hijack. I can start my own thread if you prefer?[DOUBLEPOST=1362335137][/DOUBLEPOST]

Alternatively, you could go under your base and clear out a 3 chunk by 3 chunk area and put a chunk loader in the center :) that is what I did
