The map is part of opisis which i cant seem to disable at all though you can use "n" to close it and just install one of the other it works fine that way. just be sure to reset your control for the map.
Probably why it wasn't very obvious, since Opis doesn't seem like a name you would call a map mod, I tend to prefer the way the other map mods handle the waypoints better and its also easier to make the waypoints. The only one I haven't tried is the journey map.
MapWriter is just a part of Opis. It provides some lag diagnostics of some kind. Just add the other map of your choice, you can keep both open (N key). The Opis one is handy for its full world map render as well as overlay maps like loaded chunks and slime chunks.
That. As much as Opis would be helpful to me as a server admin when things start getting out of hand, its minimap is simply appalling, and everyone on my server hated it - not to mention its off waypoint system. I'm sorry - it's just no.
ZansMinimap remains my choice - however I am having an annoying "problem" with it, so to speak.
I have a volume wheel on my keyboard, and I'm noticing that with each click of the wheel, the mob radar on the minimap toggles on and off. Looks like some weird keybind conflict somewhere.
Keyboard's a Logitech G510 btw.
What I would do is try and see what the particular key is for that on your keyboard and match it with the config.. Or maybe change the key you press for the mobs to something else..
If that doesn't work, meh.. I am not sure what to do..
Also you can use Dynmap for that overview for your map on a server and whats better is you can show it on the net.. it gives a site usually IP and 8123 which would be like...
168.1.1.66:8123 with http in front.
