I'm here, writing this today mainly because of this amazing, amazing idea, created by @GPuzzle - that instantly inspired me to do a somewhat similar thing.
The whole concept is for me to write a story, whose characters are - guess who? You guys! Mainly people that I already know, but still...
I intend to add two, maybe three characters per chapter - remember, it is possible for your character to die - to perish into oblivion, I may say.
The plot? Well, I'm actually using the concept of a story I wrote a couple of months ago as base, a support structure, if you will, which is already full of it's own lore and sceneries. 'What's the concept?', you might ask. The whole idea behind the story is - in this fictional universe, no 'guns' were invented - the idea of a thing able to shoot a metalic projectile at incredible speeds never passed through anyone's mind, ever - leading to the huge advances in blade-based weapons, mainly swords. Magic also exists, and plays quite a big role on the overall story - being the somewhat forbidden 'Arcane Blades' much more powerful than the basic tech based ones - with exceptions, of course. Almost a whole half of Earth's population has adopted the 'swordsman way' - obligating society to eventually make drastic changes to it's overall systems, such as politics, economy and power in general. Years of slowly corrupting the system eventually lead society to fall into anarchy. Basically, the overall rule became - the greatest swordsman you are, the more powerfull and influential you'll be in society - that was based on the fact that powerful swordsmen tended to be more responsible and intelectual than the average person - probably due to the intensive training they usually received. Unfortunatelly, and as you might expect, this system, inicially, was full of flaws - being the big one the always asked question: "How can we determine which swordsman is the strongest?". People tried to come up with solutions, all with it own's specific flaws and overall logical mistakes. Society was collapsing more than it already was - people started blindly fighting each other to prove power, causing massacres all over the world - of which the already broken government had no control over. And then, what some considered to be a blessing from the Heavens, suddenly appeared - and it was only discovered after weeks of it's creation. Believe it or not, something silimar to a ranking system was created and posted on the internet, and it seemed incredibly precise. Contained five billion names, all ranked individually by it's own hability in handling a sword. It was named 'A.W.P.R.S', for 'Active Worldwide Power-based Ranking System". Since this very day, not a single person was able to track down the creator, nor the host - the most accepted theory is that the whole system works around an extremely powerful magic, that no one was skilled enough to compreehend or mimic it.
That's pretty much the whole concept explained for ya' - there's only one more thing, if not the most important. In this universe, exists a legend about an artefact - which, theoretically would be the most powerful thing in the entire known universe - the almighty 'Excalibur'. Travellers talk about it once in a while, but someone is still to find it - and claim it's powers.
Your journey and role in this story is to find Excalibur - and with it's infinite powers, put order and justice back into this world.
