The Aesthetic Replacement Thread

Aims to find a suitable aesthetic replacement for every Vanilla block.
Give me your ideas! Vanilla blocks will be stated in ID order.
This will be driven off of user ideas, not mine. I have a lot of ideas, but I want to see what you guys can figure out!
ID - Vanilla Block - Replacement
1 - Stone - Reinforced Stone
2 - Grass - Nothing Yet
3 - Dirt - Nothing yet, but for Functionality, Xychorium Soil
4 - Cobblestone - Red Rock Cobblestone
5 - Oak Wood Planks - Cherry Wood Planks
5:1 - Spruce Wood Planks - Ebony or Walnut Wood Planks
5:2 - Birch Wood Planks - Acacia, Balsa, or Silverwood Wood Planks
5:3 - Jungle Wood Planks - Larch or Redwood Planks
17:2 - Birch Wood - Acacia, Lime Wood or Balsa Wood
78 - Fallen Snow - White Wool Covers
85 - Fence - Iron Fence, Forestry Fences, Railcraft Posts
133 - Emerald Block - Olivine or Block of Green Sapphire

Aesthetics are sort of a vague area to work in. Are you looking for style replacements, color replacements, or theme replacements?

I mean say brick can be replaced by other brick types for style, red rock blocks for color, for any of the industrial sorts of blocks like concrete or full slabs for theme.

I mean just because. My sister was playing on a superflat world where she found a village, and decided she wanted to remove every vanilla block and replace it with something that looks better, but keeps the theme. Like for Fences, she used posts. For stairs, she used Red Rock Stairs.

Well in a village you got a fair small selection.

My suggestions to change it but upgrade it look.

Replace X with Y

Cobble > Smoothstone brick
Planks > any other Plank type. I suggest spruce
Fences > micro block posts or metal fences they are printable.
glass panes > glass viewers, harden glass, or any of the color glasses
Gravel > depending on what you like/have installed. Crushed Obsidian, Charcoal blocks, or Smoothstone slabs.
Doors > Thuam warded doors look really nice.

Theme replacements for objects

The lamp posts with torches > Lamps (RP2 or XYcraft)
The furnaces in the black smiths > Alloy furnaces.

But this is for everyone. Also for bragging rights for modders. Also, Stone bricks are not Chocolate. (Chocolate is my name for modded minecraft.)

Red Cobble for coloured Cobble.

Green Sapphire for Emerald.

Two blocks of Lapis Lazuli for a miniature TARDIS.

Update: Added a bunch of ideas for planks and the like. Soon will add saplings.
Got any ideas for Plank or Sapling Replacements?

Can't really make a list of replacements for all aesthetic styles. You could, for example, make a list of replacements for a certain theme, like futuristic or medieval, but a lot of blocks don't quite fit together.

In that case, could you add Acacia log to Birch log? That as well as Silverwood log, they're both very nice african-looking logs.

Well stuff that looks better is so up to the person who is building. Maybe I like EXLB's toadstools over red and brown vanilla shrooms.
