Thaumium Grafters and Silverwood Saplings?

I keep reading that this is a sure way to get saplings but mine didn't work!

Do I have to find a sapling first, scan it (so it turns into a forestry sapling), plant it, then graft from there?

I just broke a sapling on a tree and it didn't drop anything.

Grafters only work on trees from Forestry (or Extra Trees). I'm not sure if it works on Vanilla trees too, but I think it does.

Silverwoods unfortunately fall into neither category (and they don't have a forestry equivalent).

That is what I concluded but there are a series of posts that confirm that it is possible.

Possibly if you can get looting on it it'll work - the only thing I know for sure that increases silverwood drop rate for saplings is the Force Claws from 1.6 Dartcraft. But I've not played with that mod since, and I really didn't go too much on it in Monster, so I'm unlikely to try it again.

I use ftb infinity. It doesn't have dartcraft.

I dont think dartcraft updated to 1.7.10 and for a reason. Mods like dartcraft break the packs balance so bad i think.
