Thaumcraft Transmutations not Working: Whats Up?

I'm running FTB Unleashed with Gregtech added.

So I've researched all the transmutations in thaumcraft (lead, copper, silver, etc), however whenever put the required essentia in the crucible all I get are iron nuggets.

I've seen this problem mentioned in a ton of other places, but I have not one time ever seen someone answer it.

A strange thing is that I remember way back when I was playing mindcrack last year you would always see aspects whenever you hovered over items, however that is not the case anymore. Also, I don't know if this is how its supposed to be, but there are not any visible recipes in the thaumanananaicon for any of the transmutations other than gold or iron, though I definitelyhave them researched and can read the short little descriptions.

So please, considering I've literally seen at least 30 people ask about this, anyone know why this is happening?

I can't say why it's happening, but I can say that I've had the same in my 1.5.x world with Thaumcraft 3.05. I can also say that it's not getting fixed, because Azanor hasn't been working on Thaumcraft 3 in months. Instead he's fully focusing on Thaumcraft 4 for 1.6.x.

My only guess is that the order of the aspects might matter? IE, if you're going for copper, put the apple aspect in first, rather than last, as if the system looks at them in order, then it will go "transmutio, metallum... hrm, that's IRON!" and ignore the apple.

Only a guess.

I tried this, didn't help. Same two iron nuggets.

Do the recipes for copper / etc transmutations have a cauldron entry in your Thaumnomnomicon? Researching them is one thing, but does the Thaumonomicon have the recipe for it? If not, it might be disabled.

Also, the aspect thing happens when you hold [ SHIFT ] when you have your mouse over an item.

Actually, the page is empty. The research is there and researched, but the page where the cauldron should be is empty.

I researched this a while ago. It's a bug in the Thaumcraft initializer, the research is enabled if mod ores are detected but the recipes never are. That's why it appears blank in the Thaumonomicon and doesn't work in the crucible.

Here's my patch for activating the transmutations, put it in your mods directory and backup your saves before use.

The server will need the patch as well because, as I said, the recipes need to be enabled, and the server handles those.
