Getting a crash with Thaumcraft, any ideas?

Try changing to older Forge version, 2705. Newer versions can change the accessibility of particular objects, which is likely this case.

Unfortunately, TC's github appears to be down at the moment of this posting, but if you had looked at it before you'd know this is a known bug. TC is currently incompatible with forge version 14.23.5.2768 or higher, 14.23.5.2766 works fine though.
