I haven't found any, I must have been very unlucky with the world that was created when I started my server, huuuuuuge oceans. I've tried creating tainted biomes by replacing dirt with tainted soil in creative, but it's rather receeding than growing, I've tried being reckless with the crucible, creating lots of flux goo. I've even tried creating new nodes with creative mode in an attempt to get a tainted node, bit no luck, I'm beggining to think taint is disabled :(

Hmmm, that's odd. After roaming around a bit I found quite a few tainted chunks (at least 10) kind of scattered near each other. This is on the direwolf20 pack for 1.6, and the terrain was generated with either the first, second, or third versions, can't quite remember and it probably doesn't matter. Perhaps taint is biome specific? I certainly didn't have any tainted ocean biomes, I was in more of a swampy/jungle-y/moderately forested area.

Looked in the too much taint thread, and found your solution:
"go into the configs
find this line:
# The chance per chunk (1 in n) of a Taint biome spawning during world gen. Setting it to 0 prevents the spawning of Taint biomes.
I:biome_taint_chance=0

change from whatever it is, to 0"
Now just do the reverse, and make the chance greater, then go generate some new terrain!

it was set to 2000, I was just really unlucky. I set it to 1 in 800, I've discovered 2 areas since then. and I'm growing a third in a somewhat controlled manner ;)

The temptation to make a highly-immature comment about finding the taint is nearly overwhelming.

To put down how to artificially create a taint biome, you need to get a tainted node AND place an obsidian totem. It will start making taint tendrils then, which make taint biomes eventually

just an obsidian totem? does it need to be a specific height?
the obsidian totems that you find scattered about the world from Thaumcraft generation
So it's not just vanilla obsidian, but you are able to make them yourself

Can't remember their composition properly though

yes of course. what I meant was regular obsidian totem, or the charged one (the one with a sinister node in it) they can be placed with creative mode.
