Well as the description says I am wondering about how fast does the infernal furnace smelt items.
There are no arcane bellows they are just normal infernal furnaces.

Thaumcraft 3 ones where pretty fast if you piped in ignis. Thaumcraft 4 ones are a touch slower but can be powered by ignis centivis.
It's abour 1-2 items a second.
I don't think the bellows effected speed though, just the amount of bonus nuggets. Or was it both speed and nuggets? I don't remember.

Bellows does help with the speed too from my own experience, but not as much as feeding it with Ignis Centi-Vis.

You could do both. Also gotta try feeding it essentia (if that's still a thing) too see if that speeds up more.
Chances are it's an either or thing though.

I realize the thread is specific to tc3, but I'm curious: does the actual rate of ignis centi-vis affect the smelting rate?

I also get around one smelt per second, but my (first and only) energized node is pretty lame, probably around 5 ignis cv. Thus far its always gotten the job done around my base but I'd love to know if a better node would make a significant difference.

More CV does help but I guess there's a maximum cap to the bonus speed. I tried using a 80 CV node to power it but it wasn't any better than the 30 CV node I was using back in my old world.

If memory serves the infernal furnace is fully "charged" with 3 Ignis. So if your node is greater then 3 you are good. If you are at 3 or less you cannot say charge a wand and smelt at the same time/speed.

but this really doesn't answer the main question.
The question is: How long does it take to smelt items. Specifically time per item (time/item)
The scenario is: you have a fresh build infernal furnace, no additional boost of any sorts.

You could just build one in a creative world to test it. I think TC3 had the creative Thaumonomicon, too.
