Basically, every few minutes of playing FTB this glitch happens.

The textures spazz out completely, often going to random pixels scattered around. I then get reduced FPS and freezing, then finally the client either closes completely, stops responding or I get a "java.exe has encountered a problem" warning.

The strange thing is that it doesn't just happen with FTB. When I played Tekkit it used to happen as well, and on vanilla Minecraft, though less often.

It happened on my old computer and happens on this one. It was a full upgrade, the only component that I kept the same due to lack of funds was my nVidia Geforce 210, which is complete crap.

By the way, I have no crash reports at all. It doesn't seem to recognize it as a crash.

Kind of sounds like an overheating GPU. Do you have anything to monitor your video cards temp? (evga precision for example)

Yeah I agree with Greevir here it sounds like your GPU is being fried. As well as checking the temperature it's running at you might want to check you have the latest drivers.

It's running very hot, but I never realised that overheating could cause such instability. Thanks, this makes me even more eager to get enough cash to buy a GTX 650!

By very hot, I mean about 85 degrees Celsius at load. It's at 82 typing this, with FTB open but not in a server.[DOUBLEPOST=1365694130][/DOUBLEPOST]It's a fanless model, because I used to be running low-end on-board graphics from 4 years ago and that GPU was only about 20 quid to solve a lot of problems and act as a stop-gap. The old one didn't even support widescreen.

Oh yeah heat+computer = bad things. Might be worth setting your graphics as low as possible, and maybe use Optifine to further reduce the GPU load. Failing that you could get some sticks and marshmallows and get a nice little campfire going with your PC ;)

Lol, I think I'll just leave everything as it is and wait a couple of months and get that new card. I might actually be able to game properly then.

Do you think the overheating GPU could cause general system instability as well as gaming?

Well it would only cause problems when using any application that is graphic intensive, so predominantly gaming, but also if you were using CAD software. Too much heat though will cause all manner of issues, so you might notice a degradation in performance for a time after gaming.
