I find it hard to imagine textures being broken as much as they were in 1.5. For that reason alone I'm going to bet it won't be as bad... but it's still going to be frustrating.

Reading what dinnerbone said on that github, it looks like the new work on a FTB launcher could be scrapped, too, seeing as Resource packs will cover mods.
"Ultimately, every mod/plugin will be its own resource pack, vanilla will be a resource pack by itself, and users will be able to apply multiple resource packs at once. "

@Wafflier: I doubt Mojang will be distributing the resource packs, so people like you and me would still need to install each resource pack individually. I think the FTB launcher will just need a path change.. place the mod zips in assets instead of mods.

What I was trying to say was that they might have to rework the FTB launcher to install each modpack(DW20 Mindcrack, etc.) as a resource pack on the standard ol' /appdata/roaming/.minecraft instead of creating whole new instances of the game.
