I have never had a problem with Thaumcrafts Axe of the Stream.

Unless you mean the Lumber Axe from Tinkers Construct (TiC).

I thought it was pretty obvious he meant tinker's construct. I often see TiCo btw.

switch42, which modpack are using here?

As always, obscure mod interaction issues are solved with a divide and conquer strategy:

First, is it a bug in TiC itself or Forge? Make a profile that is TiC + Forge only and try it. If the problem manifests with just TiC on Forge then its probably a Forge compatibility issue with that version of TiC - update (regress?) one or both until the problem is resolved.

If this doesn't solve the problem, then its a mod/mod compatability issue and the trick is to find the offending mod: divide the remaining mods in half, keeping the core mods together with the mods that need them.

Run your minecraft instance and test if the problem occurs now. If it does, then the problem mod is one of the just added mods: Remove them, divide that set of mods in half, and try again.
If the problem doesn't occur then the problem is in the other half set of mods.

Keep on adding and removing half the mods at a time, until you have just TiC and the mod that causes it to fail. Check if there is an update that fixes the incompatibility, or if they need specific versions of Forge / TiC to work correctly.
