This is about coding standards and is not a bug fix request.

So basically i am peeved because it seems the none of you take your own mods seriously, for example I know a server owner who will try to report bugs and will get responses like: Its not my problem you have a 'shitty' server, well is it the shitty server that spams errors until the file is around 400Gig and unreadable? Or a response like if you don't like it don't use it... Is that really what you want? You want the mod to slowly die because of ignorance? To be honest when i first saw this mod pack come out, I thought wow this is going to be good people who have made great mods working together to produce something even better, but so far it has failed miserably most updates result in nasty bugs, Remember this is no longer in BETA stage, but basically the message of this rant is that you guys need to Take this development seriously and work together, because at the moment you all seem to be as a teenage girls love interestss both in respect to the community that uses the mod pack and among yourselves...

I donno the ideas are great, but it's pretty messy...[DOUBLEPOST=1358141878][/DOUBLEPOST]Not really coding standards either... just teamwork and planning in general...

welcome to the internet bro. they are doing it for free, they can do whatever they want, just like the FTB chat that bans you for no reason.

I'm totally with you, people should be less dicks and less calling "troll" to someone that shows an opinion diferent than theirs, this is becoming the tekkit forums.

Sounds like one very biased side of a story, not even enough to piece together what actually happened. Care to elaborate properly before we go insulting?

I don't actually agree with this sentiment completely. I agree there is a fair amount of infighting between mod developers, but the FTB team do their utter best to produce a product despite all this infighting.

As for the forums, I have never participated in the Technic Forums, but am fully aware of them and believe these forums are still quite a way from being as bad as them, I'm sure there is a bit more to your story about your friends server, but if the problem is that severe then they could always try contacting one of the devs, either FTB devs or if it's just one mod in particular that mod's dev.

Without proof of said responses it is basically a "your word agains theirs" which you will inevitably lose. Hell, even if you had proof, theres nothing you could do anyway. Perhaps your friend was reporting the bugs in the wrong place, or reported a known bug that had been reported a thousand times before.

I see your point and I'm with you to an extent, but it's not there obligation to serve us. At any point in time they could just stop developing mods or just make an extremely buggy version and there's nothing we could do about it. None of the mod developers are getting enough cash from this to call it profit.

Some of the mod developers are quite nice about it though. They'll take a bug report if you post it right (most people dont') and will actually help you.

First, the mod developers don't "work" for the FTB team. We go by what they do, not the other way around. The mod developers are actually more in contact now than they ever were. Second, in terms of things for not-so-great-servers, a modpack called FTB Lite will be coming out soon.

Well, that soon was "it will come in 1-2 weeks" like a month ago, I rather hear "someday" than "in a week or two" and then nothing.

Im sorry this is/was more of a rant than anything, I should have made it a feature suggestion relating to working hard on bug fixes and performance improvements for a while [In a different section ofcourse] rather than commenting on personal things, I also probably forgot that most of the mod developers most likely have day jobs that they need to keep and so if it is a little rough around the edges so be it the only point i still want to make is mod developers being nasty about being given issues, They don't have to care one bit they just have to say: Ok thanks... The internet doesn't have to be a horrible place!

Also can i request this thread to be closed, I can only see difference of opinion developing from it... I don't want to delete it though.

What I could glean of your "friend" server- he let it go completely unmaintained then complained when the log files hit 400G and cried BUG. Sorry, that's not a bug, it's a "friend" who doesn't know it takes some work to run a server- there is no such thing as 'start and let it go forever without checking things'. Check your logs and keep them cleared. Maybe what filled the logs is some kind of bug, but the fact it hit 400G without checking is an utter fail on the server admin part.

^this. I know the FTB forum is the best way to get a message across to numerous mod developers, but the FTB team themselves have no hand in the mod developement. though like Flora said, because of FTB alot of mod developers did start getting into contact with eachother alot more.
