Hey, I'm looking for a nuclear reactor mod for a custom modpack to satisfy endgame power needs, but which one should I use? A good balance between realism and/or fun, and performance is also a requirement in minecraft 1.12

Some people would call it overused, but I think Extreme Reactors (the port for Big Reactors post-1.7.10) might be a good option. The reactors look good, can be scaled up for size and power output, have added fun and complexity when it comes to doing the liquid-cooled reactors, the turbines of which have a nice physical look to them (if you want the realism bit). Its in beta for 1.12, and doesn't have the whole blowing-up-your-entire-base issue that IndustrialCraft2 has.

As an alternative, Mekanism has the fusion reactor (which can also do RF), but that's distinctly more endgame.

I refuse to suggest Draconic Evolution's reactor because IC2 ain't got NOTHING on DE.

Its still Beta, but I highly recommend NuclearCraft as a dedicated nuclear alternative to Extreme Reactors.

Picture Extreme Reactors, but with more varied fuel types, such that you're incentivized to have multiple types of reactors (I personally love turning off all Plutonium worldgen so that I can only get it via nuclear processing).

Also, the reactors explode if you design them poorly (too much heat), but unlike with, say, IC2, its really easy to see if your reactor is safe: you just need to look at the GUI and ensure your heat-per-tick rating isn't positive.

The turbine stuff is still incomplete: you're going to need to run your reactors similar to ER passive mode.

It also has Fusion power. And some silly stuff (like nuclear monsters) that you can turn off in configs (I do)

@turbodiesel4598 is the dev and he releases occassional youtube videos highlighting all recent changes, which is a really nice touch :)
