Suddenly Very Slow Framerate

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title Suddenly Very Slow Framerate

Launcher Type FTB Launcher

Modpack Direwolf20

Modpack version 1.5.1

Have you modified the pack? Yes

Link to log file

Details of the issue I suddenly got very poor FPS on my machine. It's no slouch, with a 7990 and a Phenom II x6 at 2.4Ghz and 32GB of RAM. When I look at the lag pie it seems to be spending most of its time on ticks. Is there something I'm missing?

This happened to me as well, it started after I updated to the new ftb launcher. Rolled back to the old launcher and it's all good now.

How did you rollback the launcher? I have the exact same issue.

I don't know what the threshold for necroing is around these parts, but I'd like to give an update. I've tried the old launcher, but it still is unplayably slow. The link to the log is here: http://paste.feed-the-beast.com/view/9fccea38
I tried updating Java, running the whole thing off a ram disk, and I still can't figure out what's wrong. Any ideas?

Sorry, the older launcher works for me, I just have to cancel that pesky update launcher window. Make sure your launcher is still allocating enough memory for the modpack in the settings. I think it defaults to 2GB which is way to little for DW20. I've got mine up to 8GB, but 4 to 6 would probably be fine too. You canl also try killing the FTB background app. There is usually an icon for it down by the clock in the show hidden icons button. Just right click and exit.

Hopefully, some of that might help, otherwise, i'm end the end of my knowledge on the subject, barring any hardware issues you might be having, but if nothing else is slow, it's probably not that.

Thanks. This gives even more confidence to say that problem is not launcher and changes in v1.4.13
