Strange, Yet Effective Big Reactors

So, I've been toying with thhe BigReactor simulator and have found something rather strange: in terms of RF/mB efficiency, Big Reactors actually seem to favour asymmetrical designs, like this one, a 7x7x7 that outputs around 33,000 RF/t, but surprisingly, has an efficiency rating of almost 62,000 RF/mB of fuel. What are some of your strange, yet effective Big Reactors? No idea is too crazy! The only criteria are that they either need to produce a good amount of power for their size or are highly fuel-efficient.

Also, apparently, turning your 7x7x7 reactor into a freaking smiley face in a bed of cryotheum makes for a surprisingly efficient, if not overly powerful (~23,000 RF/t), reactor.

Amusingly you can almost double your efficiency on your first 7x7x7 just by making the cryotheum pool around it bigger, 13x13x7.

I think its only got the 8, but you can also post pics of designs you've made in-game; don't have to be links to the simulator.

Also, @Pyure: Wow. Cuts the RF/t in half, though...still, over 100k RF/mB isn't somethin to sneeze at.

What number are you referring to? I see 54k rf/t instead of 34k rf/t you were getting.

You certainly can increase the efficiency at the cost of RF though. Tweak the control rods and suddenly the 13/13 version is getting 132,000 rf/mb. Most reactor designs seem to output optimally around 800C give or take.

Derp, I was thinking it was another design I'd done, lol. Shit, then, that's even better!

I bring to you, the Christmas Reactor! Because why not give your reactor a nice touch of festive spirit? Its 11x11x5, spits out around 82.5k RF/t, and has an efficiency rating of 57.5k RF/mB.

Dont use graphite to indicate annything. Graphite is a valid and in certain builds better coolant then cryotheum. Infact, this exact design in passively cooled mode actually performs better with graphite untill it is 4 blocks tall. Use empty to indicate that it can be annything. Also, replacing the outer cryotheum with resonant ender is abit better ;)

I use graphite to indicate that I like sticking graphite in the corners, even though it doesn't matter what you put there. At this size, most of the changes you can make have only a slight impact on output, but if you scale it up, they can make a significant difference.

I'm tickled by your turn of phrase here; I probably would have said the same thing :)

For most packs, yeah, these changes in efficiency are kind of irrelevant, especially if you have access to those (MFR?) laser drill things.

Personally I play on more difficult packs where yellorite is a bit harder to come by, so I could care less about point output, but efficiency is god.

And here I was thinking someone would get on to me for spelling "favour" improperly.
That looks like the British spelling, so that's probably why. That and few people really care about spelling or grammar on the Internet.

Also, this design seems to work better efficiency-wise with the one random extra control rod in the corner than without it or with another one anywhere else.
