This first happened when logging onto a friend's server, and I soon found when I opened a chest, the game crashed. This happened with all chests except an empty one I made. So we tested moving each item until I crashed my game. Uranium and tin cans worked, but as soon as bauxite was moved to the chest I was looking in, it crashed. There are also strange visual bugs when bauxite is held in another players hands: chests seem to rotate and move along with the player holding bauxite, as well as their name tag showing up upside down in a weird location. Bauxite doesn't show up in NEI.

My game and all my libraries seem to be up-to-date, running latest linux kernel (Arch Linux), FTB Beta A, and OpenJDK 7.0. Logs are available if it helps, seems to be a null pointer exception. Reinstalling FTB didn't seem to work.

I doubt this is the problem, but since Bauxite is from GregTech.
There are currently lots of problems beeing caused by different GregTech config files for servers and clients.
So it could be worth a shot to get a copy of your friends config files and see if that helps.

Seems like GregTech on my client is the problem, for whatever reason. None of the GregTech items show up in NEI in SSP. Just to see if it would work, I tested replacing GregTech in my mods folder with the latest from http://forum.industrial-craft.net/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=7156 and nothing from it showed up either (loading just IC2 and GregTech). In the mean time, I'll try another Java.

EDIT: I tried replacing OpenJDK JRE 7 with Oracle JRE 7, and it just causes FtB to crash before it can even start, something with lwjgl.

EDIT 2: I fixed the above by replacing both the lwjgl jars and the natives with an up-to-date version, but that just leaves me back at square one.

EDIT 3: FIXED. Turns out the problem was from an overzealous mod developer: "Hello, Gregorius Techneticies here, I see you obviously use Tekkit, but this Mod wont load, until Kakermix asks me PERSONALLY for the inclusion of my Mod. So bug HIM for it." Must have checked the runtime path and there was a false positive. Strikes me as an immature (and poorly implemented) way to strike back at Tekkit, especially when FtB seems poised to replace it.
