I built an Etho blaze xp grinder using MFR's auto-spawner in my home base on an SMP server, but the stone pressure plates (item id 70) aren't working for some reason. When I'm inside the tower testing it, the pressure plates work fine, they activate the pistons to push me into the 2x2 center region at the bottom. However when I turn on mob spawns, the mobs just sit on the stone pressure plates without activating them or the pistons either. I've tested blazes, zombies, skeles and creepers, none of them set off the pressure plates.

Does anyone know if this is a bug or something? I'm at a loss to figure out what is happening, web searches revealed no other reports. I'm in a Towny and I do /plot toggle mobs to turn on mob spawns. Other toggles available are pvp, fire and explosions which I leave all off.

There could be an option in Towny that only allows you to interact with pressure plates (and buttons and whatnot). I don't know though, but it's the only thing that seems logical to me.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering too and why I'm posting it here for opinions. I haven't been able to ask anyone of importance on my server about it yet.

So I just looked up Towny docs... pretty sure this is where my answer lies... in the default configs, but not sure if it's something I can toggle yet or if a mayor or even a server admin would have to change.

Problem is solved... don't understand it, but it's solved.

I was told "mobs can't switch" by someone on the server... which is related to /plot perms switch... etc. in Towny add-on.

Well I was ready to destroy the grinder after spending all that time building it... when someone said "hang on let me check something... (delay) ...wood pressure plates work."

I was a bit befuddled, why would wood work if stone doesn't and if mobs can't switch? So I made 24 pressure plates (they're cheap) and laid em down and turned the machine on... bingo.

So if anybody ever searches for a solution, there it is - use wood plates, not stone. (shrug) I dunno. It works. Cool!
