I have a sub par computer for playing modded minecraft. That I know. I average 18-25fps. Even with all my machines, I have no problems. I placed down a railcraft steam oven, and my fps goes down to the single digit range. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there anything I can do to address it? I've already changed the particles from all to decreased, although that doesn't seem to make a difference in what the steam oven produces.

I had originally thought it was adding in the second boiler, because that's when I started lagging, although it got considerable worse when I was near the oven. The moment I broke the oven, I went back to 20-25fps.

You need to be careful with any Multiblocks cause everything checks everything every couple of ticks. Just make the actual oven and after a few seconds you should be fine. That's goes with GT and any other mod's multiblocks. No multiblocks is going to be lag free but Forestry try to reduce this by checking every couple of seconds instead of ticks. Meanwhile GT probably does it at even slower intervals to make it no lagger than MC checking blocks in the world.

I had the oven created and working for several minecraft days. It works just fine, it's just laggy as hell on my PC. It might work better placed elsewhere (away from all the other machines).

maybe just covering the thing may do the trick. Like sink it in the ground and hook it up to automation and never see it again.

Well, it wasnt the oven and wasnt the boiler. I broke both of them in that area and still had lag spikes, although much better overall. I just realized I have some factorization machines there. I remember that the rendering elements on those tend to lag people. As soon as the crystalizer finishes, I am going to get rid of those and see if my horrible lag spikes go away.

I will probably have to put my factorization machines in their own chunk/room, automate them and never visit them again.

I was getting horrific lagspikes with the Railcraft sounds enabled turned them off, no more problem. Vanilla rain is able to slow my framerate if I don't shut it up. Minecraft seems to be somewhat poor at handling sound. At least in 32 bit Java, possibly an update to LWJGL may help. (nope doesn't help but it does break Minecraft if you use the wrong one :D)

My lagging when away when I removed the factorization machines. I was able to replace the steam oven after that, and was just fine. I guess the machine lag from factorization hasn't been fixed yet.
