A 36 LP boiler can run for 12.63 seconds with one piece of peat once it reaches maximum heat. Therefore you need enough peat bog(s) to produce one peat every 12.63 seconds, and a large amount of stored peat to make it through the heatup phase.

Due to the fact that forestry farm output depends partially on setup, power input and sheer luck, I can't tell you any exact number. But try two peat bogs. If it's not enough you can build a third, if it's too much you now have tons of extra peat.

Nice. I want something like too, just to get random crap from scrapboxes :)
It's actually quite easy. Just hook up a deployer to a obsidian pipe with one block of air between, then a diamond pipe which sorts into an alloy furnace (minecarts, helmets) + your sorting system (the good stuff) + back to recyclers (junk) and you get a nice steady input of scrapbox-goodies while your massfab isn't running (can be automated with an iron pipe that switches with the massfab).

thanks a lot i have plans to power all my buildcraft and ic2 machines off the boiler that is being fueled by the peat farms as i have a (sort of) automatic bog maker. The only cost is sand :)

Don't you actually need a vanilla dispenser instead of deployer? That's what I did and I think it's way cheaper, too. I wouldn't put the "junk" you get from the boxes back to recyclers as it is too varied and the wooden tools don't even stack so it would require extra effort to have the stuff not spill out of the pipes. Just void pipe everything you don't want. You could burn the tools but really, if you're automating scrapboxes fuel should not be an issue. You could use the junk for TC research if you're that cheap.

As soon as you know how many peat farms you need, post it here please, I might go with peat next time too :)

To be honest, I never thought of trying a vanilla dispenser, but deployers aren't really that expensive. The junk going to recyclers is just regular minecraft ocd, I never void anything unless it's completely useless. For the recyclers, I use two relays and rp tubes, so I never get any overflow.

I'm the same, every resource in the world has a use somewhere, I don't believe in voiding it.

Wooden tools get sent to my sawmill, reclaim the planks and some sawdust. It's amazing how much food you can get from recyclers. I don't own a single chicken, cow or pig, but have plenty of cooked meat to last me, plus a lot of some unknown canned food. Tasty Cobble Chunks in a can I think...

I'm SO going to make this setup this weekend. I have loads of UU matter so no real use for all the scrap I'm outputting now. So I guess I'll be going for a scrapboxing system :)

I didn't know an alloy furnace can smelt metal items back into ingots. Very useful!

Only helms and minecarts I think. It's becoming one of my main sources of gold now.

You can also put at least steel stuff in Blast Furnace, macerate or use Uncrafting Table for other tools and armor.
