Starting up lan server with random port

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Details of the issue Playing lan with the girlfriend and have had no problems up to today, where I start hosting the lan server, and she can't connect. Closing and restarting the launcher and game, hosting the server again and I notice that every time I host, the port number changes. After reseting the router, both computers, found that turning off the firewall on my computer let her connect, and ideas how to address this. Her computer could not be pingged through cmd either.

Sounds like you nailed it with the firewall. Find the settings for the firewall and put an exception in for minecraft. You probably need to put in an exception for javaw.exe. But it depends on the firewall software.
