Hi I am pretty new to this ftb thing and I have started about 7 different worlds but I keep getting really bored basically I mine for thirty minutes and then I setup a te system and the I get really bored because I have to go mining for like an hour to get a few diamonds and after that I just don't feel like playing I don't know why and I kind of wanted to know what you guys do once you have got a basic setup going
Thanks[DOUBLEPOST=1370054062][/DOUBLEPOST]Sorry messed up in the poll I meant more than one hour

If you want to get over that hurdle of "WHY DO I HAVE TO GO MINING FOR DIAMONDS I DON'T CARE WHYYYYYYYYY" then you should probably stick to one world.

If need be, build cool stuff out of the limited technology that you have early-game.

If you keep restarting, the Magic Boulder may get angry you'll never get over that hurdle.

If you really need to, you can cheat in ores and stuff to get a boost so you don't feel so bored early-game.

I have this exact same problem aswell, you're not alone :p

Also: I usually put on calm liquid dubstep while I go mining for about 4 hours straight. I would suggest doing /gamerule keepInventory true while you're mining, otherwise it'll just get you pissed off and not wanting to play if you fall in lava or something. Early game, there's no such thing as loss, so it's not to be shameful about.

You need to have a plan for what you want to do/build before you begin playing. The plan should also include a specific style of terrain and if necessary just keep loading random worlds over and over until you get it the terrain you need for your plan somewhere near your spawn. The issue is not mining, it is not having decided what you want to do after mining that is your problem (or at least this was the issue for me a while back when I was doing the same thing you described).

I actually love mining. I find it relaxing, especially while watching a calm stream. Another thing that can get you pumped is old, classic coal mining music. One of my favorites is Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford. Music can make mining less boring (for ones like you), and more fun (for ones like me). There is a thread here about music to listen to while mining and doing other tedious tasks.

Why would you ever create new worlds? So you can kill the dragon over and over, or repeat your thaumcraft research? Those're the only things I can think of that you can only do once. I mean, sometimes updates make restarting easier then not, but I've still got my original world from alpha spliced into my current world.

Also, if you get bored of mining and would rather do other stuff but you dont have the recources find the neccesary materials during the initial mining run to craft a couple mining turtles. theyr cheap and effective, and will provide quite a few resources so you can upgrade them later to more automatic mining methods.

I mine for less than an hour, like 10 minutes. Maybe 45 minutes cutting trees. 30 minutes building.

Then I mine exclusively for redstone and make a turtle quarry. Never mine again.

like whizz said, but place a chest on the back of the turtle right before starting the command. The turtle will come back periodically and unload the mined materials in the chest.

you need to name it first with the label set command.

"label set turtlename" where turtlename is the name that you want to give the turtle.
