Ok I am planning on starting my own server however I do not want to go in half baked and I want to do my homework. I have a few questions about plugins and mods.

First off what plugin is used that allows players to gain claim blocks and such. Secondly which plug in is used to allow players to make their own shops and stuff after buying a plot of land from admin.

I am also looking into hosting but again I am doing my homework. I know a lot of people swear by different hosters so I would like some more options to look into.

Thanks for all the help

If you want to handle the land protections via a Bukkit plugin I would suggest:
-GriefPrevention
-Towny
-Residence

As for a ForgeMod that provides the best possible protection check out MyTown by alphaest/legobear: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1889473-legobear154s-mods/

As for a Player Shop plugin I would suggest ChestShop because its the only one I've used and it works pretty well. Though I'm sure you can find many more plugins at http://dev.bukkit.org

Remember in order to run bukkit plugins you need to use the MCPC+ server.

Also chest shop is a good shop plugin loved by lots of players, and with grief prevention you can manually add blocks to protect with it thus making it able to protect everything If you put some time into it.

There are way too many griefprevention servers out there. Personally I like Towny alot better because it give it more roleplay/realism than just claiming your land and living by yourself.
