First, let me apologize if I posted this is the wrong section. Now that I got that out the way I have a quick question for the community. I reset my world a lot do to the fact that I lack the urge of doing anything because of the slow start to DW20. So I was wondering, what if I was able to setup a starter kit for every time I reset and use NEI to save the item set and load it on my new world? Now I've started myself with items before but I've always felt I've been a tad bit OP in my opinion. For example I would start with: 1 magnum torch, Axe of the Stream, a stack of food, Best wand with equal trade focus, and a storage system :p

Now I ask you guys to help me get the fun back in DW20 without it being OP, but time consuming to start. Just looking to limit it to the size of the hotbar. Let the hazing begin :(

how about you give yourself advanced tinker tools, like the hammer, excavator lumber axe, but it's made of a material that has low durability and isn't easy to get.
that way you can speed up your start point, but you have to think carefully on how to use the tools, otherwise they'll break and you won't be able to repair them.

also I don't find it cheating if you give yourself a builder's wand, as it helps alot with building, and it's not really something you can cheat with, unless you start uncrafting it in an uncrafting table
and lately whenever I started a new direwolf20 or monster world, I'd always use veinminer. some find it very cheaty, I just see it as a time-saver as I don't feel like mining out entire veins all day long

In one world reset (that was due to a map change) I gave myself a few tools, a bit of starting resources and a full middle tier energy cell.

IMHO it is completely up to you how you play your game. There is nothing you cannot do. There is nothing too OP. If you like it then do it

Easy, but you need Starting Inv and it doesn't work on things that have inventories, so be careful. Personally I start with my basic thaumcraft stuff(thaumonomicon, two sets of scribing tools [usually], stack of paper, half stack of sugar canes, three TC tables, a stick, and two iron caps) and a force mitt.

So when I did decide to start of with TC4 I wasn't the only one lol , thanks for the suggestions. I might just get a wand, a focus, and an ender quarry :p

Well if you dont want to get to quarry straight off because dat stuff should not be had at start :p I reccomend giving your self a minin turtle and then just type excavate (number) for it to dig a hole.

What I usually do is set keepInventory true and mobGriefing false. Then give myself an automatic smeltery a simple power set up (endo thermic pump to supply lava to magmatic dynamos and into a resonant cell and do everything else legit

I always use those game rules because I hate dying and losing everything in a gravestone with no gear. My last start was setup with an AE/Logistics storage system through gender chest and pouches for quick dumps on mining adventures and KAMI prototype for quick tool switches. That was the best setup I had due to the fact that I didn't have tools to start but I had unlimited storage. That was before I setup my new system with logistic pipes and a black hole chest for compact reasons.

I'm like that aswell, if I were to die, and lose all my items, I usually end up deleting the whole world and starting over.
gravestones are a good alternative, but they can be buggy from time to time aswell, like you may still lose all your items, or your gravestone spawns in the most impossible places

Some times i'll use a filler to build just a big base and light it up well enough ( Lamps or such ) and give it a couple floors and get either ore berry bushes and farms up or some way of getting materials. All depends on what mood i am when i start lol

Same with me, but I'm more moderate now so I tend to ragequit for a day then calm down and try and recover everything the next day or so.

My biggest issue is also the fact of establishing a basic base. I might made a mod that can build a Dire9x9 with just cobble and tnt :o

A dirt chest, a sonic helmet, some fancy slime blocks, 4 cobblestone covers, a fish, a live sheep, and twelve enderpearls. That's what hipsters are doing. Until someone on the forums does it, then its too mainstream.

This made me chuckle :)

If you want a quick jump start, I would see:

Cobalt-paper-thaumium pick + modif
Cobalt-thaumium shovel and axe + modif
Sword of choice (many rapier or cleaver)
Stack of food,wood and coal/charcoal
Iron armorset

The AM and TC books if you want to use them and a smeltery with 2-3 buckets of lava are also good choices :)

Finnaly, a full energy cell and a quarry if you HATE mining (which I don't)
