Anyone have a good method to making a spiral staircase? Basically i want to wrap a staircase around one of the giant redwoods from natura. The base where i want it to start is 15 blocks in diameter, so i was trying to maintain that pattern as i went up the tree. I wanted it to be 5 blocks wide at the bottom. Thinking the outside 2 would be 1 block higher to act as walls which leaves 3 blocks in the middle. So wrapped around the tree a circle going up 1 block every time i placed one down. I did that 4 more times using a 17, 19, 21, and finally a 23 diameter circle pattern. Now as it went up the inside of the spiral was gradually higher then the outside. Im not quite sure how to correct this. Im thinking i need to just build the outter layers up higher to meet the level of the inside? Like the wider i go with my spiral i need to move the next block up more then 1 in height? If that makes sense? Anyone ever done something like this successfully?

I always did a 3x3 path, but one a 5x5 works just as fine, I suppose, if one adds a single space between every step. The 3x3 I used worked didn't work with stairs nor slabs, but a 5x5 would since it has a 1 block space between the step up and the next step. That said, doing the same thing on both the outside and the inside is tricky to me right now because I'm trying to remember how thick the tree is at the bottom and the top. So really, just count how far you have to go in to reach the center, and derive from that how far one has to go on the outside to match the inside. I'm not ready to do math right now, but give me some time, and I'll have a 5x5 spiral setup that works and looks awesome, because the 3x3 on the inside allows for... no wait, one needs a 7x7 staircase for the double helix fluid spiral to be inside it, because the fluid double helix itself is 5x5 because it is a 3x3 with walls... Plus the fluids can't touch. Does that mean it's a 7x7? FFFF-.
I'll just head back in game and get back to work on Rwookrrorro.

Well i think i want to make sure each block wider i go is at the same Y level as the inside. Im not sure if that will work. But im going to give it a try soon as i get home from work.

You have to take into account that the staircase is bigger on the outside then it is on the inside. Try work on both sides at once, or just use a mod to get from inside to outside with a button press, etc etc, and one can make matching the outer stairs with the rate of the inner stairs much easier.

If you want near circular, try experimenting with micro blocks. You can create hexagonal, heck even octagonal staircases, which would be closer to circular.

What mod would that be?

There are a handful of options. Not sure which one is best suited for you right now because they are all magic mods, except for EnderIO, but one can't limit the teleport distance on the Staff of Traveling IIRC... Or maybe even jump through walls.
