First found the mod and thought it looked cool. Upon further inspection found initial analysis to be correct. Had a grand time for a couple of hours, saved it and shut down the computer. Come back and run the launcher, everything appears to have been reset. Profile was gone, world save was gone. I don't know if I've done something very stupid or if this is a known bug (which I certainly should think not, as not being able to save anything would undermine the purpose of a save button). Just thought you ought to know.

I can confirm that I have had the same issue. After updating from 1.0.4 to 1.0.5, everything was erased. My save files, texture pack, additional mods (optifine, logistics pipes, etc.) were removed. It was as if I had just installed the modpack. I spent hours on one of my worlds, and now it is all gone.

I would recommend always to have your saves backed up, or anything else you might find important. This does sound much like a bug but there doesn't seem like there is anything to do for now. I am sure that the team is working on making the launcher more stable.

Im guessing this is a rare thing or this forum would be in flames by now.
So, can you confirm that there is no folder named the same as your world was named at "[your launcher folder]\FTBBETAA\minecraft\saves"?

I had this same issue, but not with updating v1.0.4 to 1.0.5, instead I came upon this issue with updating 1.0.0 to 1.0.1. Lucky enough it was just a test world and nothing more. But yeah I highly recommend always backup your world to somewhere safe, you just never know when your world will get messed up.

Could one of the affected do me a favor? Go to the options tab of your launcher and look for an install directory. Are your missing files there?

I updated to 1.0.5, and my save is still there. So, based on my game, this does not seem to be a launcher problem, more than likely the install directory, or other used folders.

I'm not sure if this is the problem that I have..

When I update my launcher, it places the updated launcher in a folder called "updatetemp" and when I launch the one in updatetemp, it downloads everything again, in updatetemp. I still have my old worlds, but in the old folder.

You need to move the launcher file in the updatetemp folder to your main FTB folder and overwrite the launcher that's there (the one that you normaly use to start the launcher).

I agree that this is good practice, but the fact that the launcher deleted my saves in the first place is a serious issue in my opinion.[DOUBLEPOST=1353040677][/DOUBLEPOST]

I have already checked, and restored the files - I sync my saves with dropbox, and they were indeed removed upon the update.

This is a big issue. You say that you sync your saves using dropbox, You can restore deleted files in your Dropbox from the Dropbox website.

Only about half of the files are able to be restored. Dropbox limits the number of interactions that you can revert.

I can restore about half of the files, but that does not include essential files like level.dat, and many of the .mca files are missing as well.
