"Souls Mod" opinions

Hey guys!

So basically I have wanted to make a mod for awhile now, and I finally got around to making something. I decided I would start with one really well made item and build off of it from that. I wanted some thoughts on my idea/mod so far so go ahead and leave feedback and also I would love to know if you would use it in your world.

For the first item in my mod, I created a sword I call the "Soul Reaper".

The sword levels up with kills that you get with it, currently it's every 25 kills but soon it will exponentially go up. Currently every level is +1 damage to the base of 7 damage it deals. It's maxed at 7 bonus damage currently (14 total or the damage of a sharpness 5 diamond sword). I am considering keeping the maxium at around 14 and adding a feature that it gains enchantments after high levels since it you won't be able to enchant it. (Looting, Knock Back, Fire Aspect, and Smite/BA)

Now this seems a little unbalanced, the thing is the crafting recipe is a little bit expensive. It costs 2 Soul Cystals and a Blaze Rod, for a total of 8 diamond, 8 endear pearls, 2 emeralds, and a blaze rod.

Also I am currently working on a system that if you put a Soul Crystal next to the Soul sword it repairs it back to max durability which is about iron durability.

I would really appreciate thoughts and feedback. After this item I will be moving on to making some tech stuff.

The mod definitely has potential, I would just suggest a change in the crafting recipe for the Soul Crystal, it doesn't resemble anything soul-y at all -- maybe a ghast tear shove it there somewhere would do the trick. :)
