For 1.5.x you need to place down a glowstone brick in the world
Surround this by 4 netherrack
Then surround this with endstone
You'll get a diamond shape on the ground if you did it right, then right click the glowstone with a diamond, and you get the shard
Fill it up how you would have in 1.4.7
Just also an addon to what they've added, in 1.5 you can no longer use the anvil exploit to make tier 5 shards fast.
They only way is to slay stuffs manually. You can enchant a weapon with soul stealing with E+ (any "legit" ways to get that enchantment?) To help you with it. Goes up to Soul Stealing V I think? You get 6 souls credited to the soul shard per kill in that way.

in my diamond brewery i have a cow grinder with iron spikes. they drop xp orbs when the spikes kill them, so I have an xp turtle collecting them, and putting level 30 enchants on books. its pretty random, but with all the mods in unleashed, i get about 40+ different books from the process, including the level 3/4 soul stealer books in the screenshot

what mod is the spikes from? I know in 1.6 Extra Utilities has spikes, but they don't drop experience when killing mobs...
Extra Utilities, and i think only passive mobs drop exp, not hostile. not sure in 1.6 tho, i still run unleashed here
I know at the very least they still exist in 1.6, but haven't tested their capabilities.
I'm using them in 1.6 with hostile mobs, but no experience drops.
they're really fast in killing the mobs though
