Will Minecraft on Sony consoles be as successful without mods?

I know people who don't own a pc beyond a generic POS laptop that won't play MC. These same people also don't own an XBox but do have a PS3. They also have kids who are getting to the age that they will start playing games.
These Parents might now want to play MC but that has nothing to do with what their kids will be playing.

Assuming that every single person who would play MC already has it is just Ignorant.

and I did say, "Again different circumstances keep people from buying it but are there enough of those people to allow mojang to make a profit?" I really wish people would read ALL of my posts before insulting me. it's part of the whole and you ignored the entirety of what I said.

Breaking it down for you here. I know EVERYONE doesn't have it, I am saying is there enough still left to allow the sales to even out or make a profit. Also Sony does charge for their license and that can be a substantial cost even with a company like Mojang.

Why wouldn't there be?

Why do you just assume that everybody has an xbox or is a PC gamer.
I personally know 1 person who plays PC games besides me. I know more people who don't own an xbox than do.
I know even more people who aren't gamers but who have children that are getting to the age that they will be looking for good wholesome games for their kids to be playing.

I recommend MC to anybody who has kids that is looking to find good games for their kids to play.

I'm just one person.
How many other people who play MC are doing exactly the same thing with their friends and coworkers?

I just wish any of them made sense. You're positing that mods are essential to Minecraft when, rationally, ever piece of evidence in the world you can consider from a google search choruses, "No."

I guess what I was getting at was that mods definitely give this game replay value moreso then the original game. There's a ton to build but there's a lot of challenges and with 3 different consoles it's releasing on, the infrastructure may be sony's code but each have their issues in coding. I'll gladly post here bowing out and commit seppoku but I just don't wish to see mojang do bad. Sony's a great company to work for. I just hope it translates into a great relationship.

What does replay value have to do with game sales?
All that matters is the original sale of the game to Mojang.
Replayability only matters to consumers who want to continually play a game.

And as stated before, more people play vanilla MC than play Modded. I bought PC versions for my Nephews over a year and a half ago but because of PC issues my sister bought it for them on the Xbox. The boys still love the game and play it constantly. My best friends boys also have the game for the Xbox, they love the game and play it all the time.

I love modding in games. I feel it makes the game much more like what the players of the game actually want instead of the ideas of the developers. But in no way does it matter to a majority of players.
And again, all that matters is the initial sale of the game.

Replay value generates continued sales. I for one will always buy games from the creators of PS allstars and relic entertainment because of how fantastic their games were. While mods dont directly to add to that. Yea I'm dumb gotcha but for the most part, in such a terrible economic time is it so bad thinking playing the safest bet is the better option? I'm not saying they should ignore it but I'm saying what can they add to get a leg up on the other versions that would draw in sales even from those who already own it.

Sorry if I'm being overly pessimistic on this but vita's track record isn't the best for games until recent (and even then some would say questionable) I just really hope it is successful and sony does allow for modding

I *think* i understand what those words are trying to form...

Minecraft was designed, from the start, to not have an end (Of course the stupid things like the end and the ender dragon kind of beat the heck out of that...), it was intended to be a sandbox game.

I think you are vastly overestimating the expense of porting it to PS3. There are a lot of people who make a living doing that so the expertise is already there. The hard part is developing the game, getting it to work on multiple platforms, especially when you already have a version that works on the 360, is peanuts in comparison. I suspect they'd break even at a measly 20k sales. Not hard to do.

I played vanilla for a year without even hearing about mods :p
Even to this day I play vanilla frequently, it justs holds a value you don't get in modded minecraft, where as a 100 x 100 Redstone contraption that took hours, is done with a single block in modded minecraft

I also bought it for the mods. But with the fact it's going to be on all 3 consoles I'm actually seeing connectivity and world saves being swapped. The vita can easily handle vanilla minecraft and to have a full minecraft on the go is awesome I think I'll change my tune when I see it in action since I love my ps3. Ironically enough I've yet to really get my time with my vita as a certain someone who's close to me has it and wont give it back until she finishes gravity daze...

I think everyone gets tired of minecraft by itself, and modding revives that fire.. At least that's what happened to me.. (Im playing since inf dev though.. so.. yeah)
