Hey,

did somebody already use EE3 in the direwolf20 pack? How useful is it compared to EE2?

Its functionality is currently minimal due to being incomplete. The Minium Stone is a lower tier Philosopher Stone that is the only one you can currently access, and it requires mob drops to craft. No other features are currently available. Collectors and Condensers will not be returning, nor will Red Matter. The Minium Stone can be used for a variety of useful trades in the same way the Philosopher Stone used to do.

The Minium Stone appears to have durability, though I'm not sure exactly what wears it down. Possibly the crafting trades. The Philosopher Stone cannot be crafted, currently, but I don't believe it has durability (I could be wrong), and it can enlarge the area that it can transmute in the world. For example, the Minium Stone can only turn one Dirt block into Sand at a time. The Philosopher Stone can turn a small area at a time.

Sadly, the main difference between EE2 and EE3 is that EE2 was useful and EE3 is not. I know someone is going to jump down my throat for being critical of a mod that is incomplete. I don't care. I ran around with my minium stone last night. I don't know how I'm supposed to get excited about being able to turn dirt into sand. I tried different crafting recipes and none of them inspired.

It's much too early to condemn the mod overall...that wouldn't be fair to the author. All I know is that if it goes the same way as Factorization, it might as well not be in the pack.

Honestly, even though EE is trimmed so far down from the past, what we do have at this point excites me. I love the new UI stuff, it makes things so much easier to understand. I also love the finite nature of the new stones, because EE really ruined the game originally when you could just produce any raw resource you felt like at zero cost to you. It is very very unfinished as it is right now, but the level of detail and care put into what we do have now makes me fully trust the direction the mod is going in the future.
