Well, no, of course not, when compared to something with real power. But I wasn't comparing a gate to an engine that requires fuel. I was comparing a gate to what it did before the update. I remember hearing the line above that a gate will be 'marginally faster' than a hot redstone engine, and maybe that is, objectively (a difference of 0.1, perhaps, in an obscure calculation), but subjectively I don't think of twice as fast as marginally faster.

So what you're saying is, "Everything went better than expected." Because I sure am happy about how I can use the new gates connected to a void pipe to keep inventories from spilling.

Remember you can hook up any MJ engine to a wooden pipe..
Well, if I want speed or good control of wooden pipes, I use energy cells. They can pull up to stack per game tick, which makes them 4 times faster than filter with maximum speed timer. Combination of setting desired MJ output and redstone control makes every average rate of items possible, with less redstone updates than RP2 systems. It could only be better if it allowed setting how often energy is emitted, because I don't like using pistons in redstone systems and without piston based pulse shortener you can't pull one item from the inventory.

What do you mean about gates connected to a void pipe to prevent spillage? You could already hook up a void pipe to prevent spillage in a system, right?

Yeah but before the speed at which you could pipe didn't really stop the things I had from spilling. The new gates easily keep up with it. No more tree farm wood spilling everywhere!
