So as some of you may know I've started a rather serious playthrough of Infinity(in my sig), trouble is running SSP or the server and client both on my PC is starting to strain things already. I'm getting loads of "Can't keep up" messages even though both TPS(14) and FPS(20-140) are fine(also plenty RAM available, disk usage fine and under 70% CPU use) so not really sure what's going on?

I can live with this now(the only indication is my minecarts and entity movement is jerky) but I'm worried about when things start getting more complicated so:

First prize for anyone who can help solve this issue....

Second prize is answers to the following questions.

Due to a slightly unique geographical location(South Africa) and an utterly crap internet connection(4Mb down/512Kb up) that unfortunately cannot be changed I need to know:

1. Anyone who is on an Infinity server what is your average AND peak up/down data rate?
2. What is the maximum ping that minecraft is playable with?

Are you running on Java 7 or 8? I had utterly poor perfomance running infinity on 7. Went away after I installed 8

With playing the game, running the server, and recording all being done on one computer, it's going to be difficult to do anything to improve your performance.

You may have to go with a 3rd party server host to take the load off your CPU. Sorry, that's all I can think of that will give you enough resources to play and record at the same time.

That's what I was thinking hence the second part of the post...

Are you having these issues all the time or just after an update of the pack ?

Because when I switched to the 1.4.0 version a couple of days ago, the new Mystcraft ore-analyzer kicked on and made my game lag as hell and crash 3 times.. but after 20 minutes of restarting and waiting, the game went back to normal and I could record my episode without any issues..

Is constant on 1.3.4, I don't update to unstable packs and am well aware of the mystcraft issues.

You would have to be a bit more specific in your questions regarding data rates and pings. I suggest looking for a host that has a node near your physical location. I've lucked out and my host has a good sized server bank in Seattle WA (about 4h driving time south of me LOL) and I always have good ping. Good luck to you!
