Hello everyone,

I wanted to power my friction heater with 8 AC Electric Engines (I am eary-game). Because Shaft Junctions can't merge more than 4 times the average power (see Handbook), I built it like you can see in the picture. But when I turn the Timer on (2 Ticks), the Shaft Junction indicated by the red glass explodes. Everything else workes just fine, the engines are producting the expected amount of W. The inputs and output of the shaft junction are correct (checked these over and over again..). They are also set to merge mode. Of course, the AC Electric engines have magnetized shaft cores in it. I use the newest version of DragonAPI and RotaryCraft.
If I upgrade the shaft junction with 2x Bedrock gear unit (tested in creative), everything works as expected (1182C friction heater).

From the RotaryCraft Wikia I have:
"Note that only up to four engines may be combined with basic shaft junctions, but they may be upgraded by simply right clicking it with a bedrock 2x gear unit, this consumes the gear unit and changes it to a bedrock shaft junction which has no engine limit."
That explains the explosion, but it is really weird: For example, what happens, if I convert the Energy to RF and back again, is the energy considered to be created with shaft junctions from 4 engines? The remark in the handbook is very logic, because it prevents you from merging a gas turbine and a dc electric engine. But why does the power system from RotaryCraft differentiate between "power" and "power, created with 4 (why 4) shaft junctions"? This is not that realistic. I don't know whether this is a bug or an intended feature. If it is intended, pls explain me the physics behind the scenes.

You cannot combine more than 4 engines with a standard shaft junction, period. This is for a balance reason. It has nothing to do with real-life physics (as far as I know). This is to stop people from just spamming engines everywhere until they progress sufficiently within the mod. It also promotes smart solutions since most of the time spamming engines is a whole lot harder and costlier, both for the player and the server, that it would be to just have one more powerful engine.

what happens, if I convert the Energy to RF and back again, is the energy considered to be created with shaft junctions from 4 engines?

No, it is considered to be created from however many magnetostatics you supply the power with.

In real life you can't really chain too many engines together without some sort of inefficiencies. Of course it's not a magic number of 4 but if the engines are not operating in sync they actually get in each others way.

Think of it like a bunch of men pulling a load up a hill. Sure their man power is combined but with each person there's more of a chance for one to mess up rhythm. It's why most vehicles only ever have one engine operating at a time for locomotion.
However in rotary craft engine output is essentially equal and consistent. So an arbitrary limit had to be imposed.
