I try to reset my thaumcraft research after I cheated in a thaumonomicon. From what I've seen on the forum I need to delete my player's .dat file but it keeps coming back. I guess there is a place that keeps a backup of it and when game can't find the file it fetches it from there. Is there any way to delete my player.dat once and for all? Thank you in advance!

level.dat keeps a copy of your player's data. You'll need an NBT editor to safely delete it without messing up your world though!

if you're playing in thaumcraft 4.1 and have cheats enabled (ssp) or are an Op (SMP) you can type /thaumcraft research (your username) reset to reset your reseach progress
