Solar panels and batbox

I'm unsure if the following set up is OK since I can't test the difference. To charge up a batbox with basic solar panels(246:3), is it OK to place the solar panels together and while one sits on top of the batbox. Or do both solar panels each require to be connected via cables to the batbox?

No, the first is totally fine. As long as you don't put a solar panel at the dotted side of the batbox, that is.

There was a trend way back (when solars were cheaper) to make solar "flowers" which were basically panels arranged around a storage/transformer, meaning that you get nice current out rather than the little dribbles. But that's probably a little in depth for this.
