So since a solar helmet is in the recipe for a light helmet, does the light helmet charge jet/bat/lap packs?

My source is that I have tried to use the light helmet for charging jet/batpacks and it workedNo, it does not.
Do you have a source for this? My source is that I have tried to use the light helmet for charging jet/batpacks to no avail. I double checked by logging into my test world, giving myself a full light helmet, and an empty batpack in the middle of the day, with no charging happening at all.

Well, I guess I will admit it. The light helmet is very glitchy and most of the time, it won't charge my jetpack. But sometimes, it WILL work. Meaning it was actually intended to be able to charge your gear.Mm, is there a key you need to press to switch between the functions? Can you perform a step-by-step in creative mode, as well as what version of which pack you are using so I can confirm my process?
Specifically, I spawned in a full light helmet, and stood in the middle of an open field with an empty battery pack on my chest. I tired the same for a jetpack, and got the same action.

I believe that it is indeed randomIs it entirely random, or is it something that you can define?
Also, when I logged back on, I noticed that it DID start charging my battery pack and my jetpack. So I can confirm that it does appear to be fairly buggy and it does work (sometimes). If that is intended, though, I am not sure.

I would have to agree with your idea of inconsistency, as it appears as that is likely the case"Random", in that you think there is a piece of code dictating it only happens a certain amount of the time, or "random" in that the pattern is too complicated and as such it appears to be inconsistent, and as such calling it "random" is the easiest solution?
Personally, I'm fairly sure it is likely just inconsistent, and requires someone beat it to death with a very large hammer to get it working again. Which means it's time to pop over to the IC2 forums (again) to verify bugs, whoo!
