It turns out the steam from solar boilers can be piped and works in any device demanding steam. Only requiring sunlight, it seems this is truly renewable once you spend the fairly abundant silver and lead. Especially useful in a forever day mystcraft world. For design I wonder if anyone has figures on how much steam a solar boiler will put out?

If I remember correctly, it was enough steam for 0,2 MJ of energy in the usual steam engines for each mirror with no limit on the boiler as far as I can tell, besides the limit to the number of mirrors you can aim at a single boiler.
