Just mad them and no step up no speed boost etc. is there an issue or is it on my side? We are on a private server.

I believe I did read something about them requiring mana now.

So you will need a filled mana tablet in your inventory.

You need mana. Either a mana tablet in your inventory or a mana ring in your inventory/baubles. It doesn't use that much, though, so charge your tablet once and you don't have to worry about it for quite a while unless you use the mana on other things as well.

I updated Botania without first reading the change log and I was wondering why my mana pool with the dispersive spark was sending me mana.
Took me a while to figure out it was the sash.
Thought it was my Forbidden magic livingwood wand malfunctioning at first.
