I've decided i need to get myself to learn java before i go to a major school for my bachelors so i'm going to do so by writing a UE compatable mod my working name for it is Carboncraft this may wind up being to much too fast but i would like people's input to things that are too complex or not complex enough or possible places to exapand currently what's in there is mostly the tech part and very little fun stuff i'm still working on that part

also any advice from mod authors for a total noob would be greatly appreciated i have a decent understanding of object oriented programming but very little coding experience in it most of my experience is with writing in BASIC on a TI84 which i actually felt slowed me down a bit in learning object oriented

thanks for the input and you're right the stuff in here is probably over a lot of peoples heads i spent some time at UT Dallas where they do a lot of crazy cool stuff with nano technology that's where i picked up a lot of this and much of it was further reading i did on my own afterwards. I don't really want to make it simpler and with that in mind i wonder if i could use this to show and teach people about the cutting edge of modern technology and anything i do based on future tech i'm probably going to have to wing it.

thanks for the link that thread gave me some great insight I've already got an idea for a starter mod that will basically be the foundation for the rest of this mod the more i think and plan this out the more excited i get i just need to make sure that motivation doesn't lose steam

I think there's some potential for nano technology in the game, you just need to explore the ideas. Good place to start. Where are you going to go to get your bachelors? I'm going to UNT in the fall for CS. I also just finished a java class and was looking to get into some modding.
