Ah, I forgot about turrets firing through Portals (by default).
That could be a huge advantage if wisps cannot see through portals. Just put a Turret somewhere with a portal in front of it and fire portals around the room. You can fire portals everywhere, floor, walls, ceiling, etc.
I think we just found the best (if not overpowered) solution to this problem. Only reason it isn't OP is because it's way too easy to grief via the Thaumcraft Flux game mechanic.
He should really just make the Flux increase if you're actually making something. Right now you can pretty much quick run by someone's house, place some flaming netherrack, set up a cauldron, and dump 5 or 6 stacks of cobblestone into it, and shift+click. Voila, instant grief.
The flux system bothers me a lot too in a server setting. I haven't really thought through the options on how to fix it, except that I really think there needs to be a way to repair flux.
The iron bars work great BTW. You could totally set up a wisp farm with turrets. I've even been experimenting with ways to deal with the turrets breaking. I'm putting the turrets on transposers, which suck them into a chest, then an autarchic gate pipes them back up into a deployer and bam, the turret lives anew.
I cheated btw. I set turrets to invincible. Not very sporting I know but it's my game.
Have to move them with a portal gun once placed though as I haven't found a way to pick them up in that mode.

Obsidian pipes > iron pipes > gold pipes with gate (redstone signal on inventory full) > deployer works too. Whee! You need about 6 because you can't be sure where the turret entity is going to fall.
