So I found something strange...

I was wandering my Tech World 2 modpack world, when I came across a strange 1x1 water "tower" going all the way down to bedrock...

It doesnt seem to do anything/lead to anything, which is why I am posting this here. Anyone know what it is or what its from?

I forgot what mod actually added it. But it is a water spring. The water actually flows upward instead of down. Also you can't destroy the source of the spring at bedrock.

It is a buildcraft water spring. There is a bedrock at the bottom that constantly creates water source blocks when they're removed. Also, the water doesn't flow upward, just the terrain gen puts a water shaft straight down to it.

I assume those gen as a way to pump infinite water without having it come from a shallow 3x3x1 pond? Thematically I like it.

Huh, you learn something new every day I guess, I always thought those were a bug in terrain generation.

Yeah this was the first i've heard of it. but i've been on hiatus from minecraft for a while...
