So, are you adding Infernal Furnaces to your ore processing line?

>.< I think he was refering to a way to create more platinum by using rich slag. Platinum which is needed by gregtech to make iridium.
Cant do that anymore unless you edit it in. Pretty retarded change imo, they should just lower the rate of rich slag to 5%. Removing things like this is a bad decision on Gregs part. Always adjust percentages, do not remove options.

I'm trying to build an entire maintenance department from the ground up and the only thing I can think about is how my pretend steampunk-magitech empire is losing ground to the filthy electricity-users while I'm away.

Fwiw Steampunk Magitech (using buildcraft, thaumcraft, redpower and optionally computercraft) is superior in pretty much every way for infrastructure to what IC2 can offer in v5.0.*. And the toys are insanely cool now, although it's very difficult to compare to the Quantum Suit and Grav engines.

But the mining laser? Enchanted Wands of Excavation are way better in basically every normal use case. Mining lasers only win now if you love Long Range mode or Explosive mode, and most people I know only use those in very specific situations. And that's ignoring Thaumcraft's new automatic digging tool which is actually, I think, the coolest device in the history of Minecraft. It also can net you SO MUCH more ore than quarries or miners or even turtles can per unit time.

Thats not what an exploit is. It clearly worked that way and he re balanced it (in a poor way)

Believe whatever fantasy you prefer.[DOUBLEPOST=1359586882][/DOUBLEPOST]

It better, since it actually uses up durability on both a wand and a pickaxe as well as destroying your vis/flux environment

In fact, its like thaumcraft has brought environmental despoilation to minecraft

Don't forget the new thaumcraft pickaxes with repair make them similar to the IC2 drills but can have fortune and silktouch legitimately which is awesome.

Creative mode experiments ahead.
So it seems like you can offset this with crystal clusters. As for flux, once you box in your local nodes it's not so bad so long as you're near a fairly big node. It also seems like the repair enchant still works on slotted items?

I still sort of love this balance point though. You can burn through gear at a frightful rate or work very hard to synergize with exisiting mechanics to make a sustainable solution. Thaumcraft has sustainability as a high-end progression, with fairly good stuff being available early but its environmental cost being pretty significant.
