Hey everyone! I'd like some suggestions for a really small modpack I'm thinking of making.

So, I kind of feel burned out with the "big" mods I've been playing for some time now, and since I've started enjoying vanilla again, I thought it's a good time to start messing with some mods I've had my eye on for some time, but never really bothered messing with. I don't want many mods, or mods that add A LOT of content, mainly a couple of "main" mods and a couple of utility ones.

My main mod will be Millenaire, I like the quest aspect of it and like I said I've wanted to play it but never did.

With that being said, some other mods I'm thinking of (not all of them will be added, I'm just making a list) are: MineFantasy, Tinker's Construct, Natura, SimpleOres and Carboniferous for an extra dimension.

To give you an idea of the combinations I mentioned:
1) Millenaire + MineFantasy + Natura
2) Millenaire + Tinker's Construct + Natura
3) Millenaire + SimpleOres

So you get the drift, Millenaire plus a mod that adds ores and some items is what I'm essentially after. I'm all open for suggestions lads and lassies, I'd be more than interested to read your suggestions...

Tinker's Constructs and Natura are a great pair that adds a lot of useful worldgen. The tool system from Tinker's Constructs is simply amazing, and definitely has the 'vanilla plus' feel rather than, say, Modular Powersuits which has almost no correlation to vanilla. So if you are wanting to play something close to vanilla, that would definitely give you more tool options without needing a whole power network or anything. The smelting mechanic that uses the seared bricks can also help you with your ore production, although it will be very slow. You can make an ingot mold and put the raw ores in and it will smelt down the metal into liquid, then pour into ingots. I believe you get a 2:1 ratio of ingots to ore as well. Just don't mix them or you might accidentally get some alloys.

Enchanting Plus is a great and simple mod. Basically, it eliminates the random factor of enchanting and lets you put precisely which enchants you want on which items, although you still need the xp for it. It makes enchanting worth bothering in an other wise 'vanilla' environment.

Inventory Tweaks is another great 'small' mod. All it does is help you sort out your inventory. However, that's actually pretty handy, particularly when it also replaces broken tools with ones in your inventory.

Obsidian Pressure Plates is another small yet profoundly useful mod, particularly for people playing on Hard difficulty. An Obsidian Pressure Plate can only be triggered by a player. So you can have your iron door that zombies can't break down and still get in without fiddling with a button.

To add on to Tinker's Construct, yes it does double ore, and you can directly make blocks of metal instead of just ingots if you're smelting a lot at once. The lava usage isn't horrible, but I do recommend having a large source to work with. A single lava tank holds 4 buckets of lava (I think you have to let it visually fill so you don't put too many buckets in and lose them) and the lava is used pretty slowly. Since it doubles ores though it's worth it even though vanilla doesn't have nearly as many uses for metals. If you want to smelt different types of metals all at once I suggest making several smelters for the different kinds of metals so you don't accidentally mix any alloys.

For Natura the flora it adds can helps with keeping yourself alive due to cheaper bread recipes, more food recipes, and cotton. The massive redwood trees that it adds are also very useful for lumber and charcoal and can take minecraft days to hollow out.

So sorry for not responding earlier, to much coding had to be done. I've been seeing Java code even in my sleep for god's sake...

Thanks a lot for the comments, I'm definitely adding Tinker's Construct, I'm intrigued by its mechanics and its smelting process and ALSO it replaces the vanilla forges in villages and adds its own smeltery! Brilliant!

Haha yeah, Inventory Tweaks is the only mod I really miss when playing on a vanilla server, just by its replacing the broken tool mechanic.

Oh man, Natura! I'm so building a house inside a Redwood tree! Love that mod too. mDiyo did a really great job...
