Ok so I know this is like vanilla but well I'm on ftb monster btw and I used reis map to find a slime chunk so I went down to bedrock and mined it so it's 3 or 4 high and some torches on the walls (I tried it with and with out torches) and I go 20 blocks away and no slimed spawn at all, I even lit up some of the places beside it. and no I don't have access to slime islands right now. Please help I really want this slime spawner to work, I need some slimed

Are you actually at bedrock layer? Mobs cannot spawn on bedrock

Strip mine. Open out a wide area, go away for a while, come back and you'll be beset by the bloody things.

Before I started quarrying in this world, they were *EVERYWHERE* in my mine workings.

fwiw, I went to a slime island and got the darn slime saplings instead. Not as good as an MFR slime setup but better than running down to mines and slime hunting.

if you dont get them to spawn, you have a few alternatives. if you have a TE sawmill, run rubber wood logs in it and youll get glue balls, which can be substituted for slime in vanilla recipes. if you have a smeltery, and you kill mobs in it, youll get blood, which can be poured into coagulated blood, also can be substituted for slime in recipes that need it. and if you have the resources to make the seeds for magic crops...you can grow it at your leisure without ever having to hunt the mobs.

bedrock is not an opaque block for purposes of spawning, otherwise the nether's upper 128 y-levels would be full with ghasts and pigman you couldn't reach

The light level only matters if you want a slime only spawner, if your okay with other mobs in the spawner then a dark room would be necessary

As pyure said, climb on a slime island and get a sappling instead. You can then farm slimeballs with trees. Don't forget to gather the blue slime block there while at it, they make super resistant tools.

That they do make great tools, blue slime. You can farm blue slime from the slime water as well(since it's a spawner for blue slimes) or from the slime trees(they have a chance to drop blue slimeballs, like how apples drop from oak trees, as well.

To get max spawn, light up everything in a ~200x200 area around your spawner
