happened 3 times and all i've done was install the pack and tried launching it. Tells me i'm using an unsupported modified version of the game. attatched the crash report

Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Allocate more ram, 4-6gb
Perhaps try using Jar-launcher (also install the latest java 8 64-bit version) - might need to start the pack, then close and restart after the switch from native to jar (might start up as vanilla 1st time).

If you still have issues after that - contact mod pack author for support, as Skyfactory 4 is not a FTB pack
