Details of the issue:

The launcher starts loading mods but then once it gets to a certain point goes back to the minecraft launcher again.​

How do I allocate more memory into the profile? I know how to do it for servers but not exactly for non server files.

Go to your settings, there's a slider. 3-4 GB should be good.
