Sky Factory 3 passive mob question

Hey guys,

Started playing Sky Factory and it seems like i might of started on a small island. All directions have ocean biome and closer in is a beach biome.

My question is if I build a grass area on the beach biome will passive mobs spawn ( pigs / chickens / cows ) ?.

I have had this spot for a while now and nothing has spawned. Wondering if i just am SOL and wait until I can fly?

The beach should work, but if not try some of the different baits from ex compressum. I believe they work independent of biome but will require some 'tempting' environmental blocks to aid in the luring.
