I made a 11*11*11 colossal chest using the XU Builder's Wand to place blocks, and while I started with just enough wall blocks to complete it (12 stacks), I found myself with around 10 stacks in the inventory after having built the thing. I experimented, and found out that the wand places blocks without deducting any from your inventory.
