Were you using a lumber axe to chop down trees?

Yeah I was, it had a Alumite Lumber axe with 3 modifiers; Redstone 100/100, Moss and Emerald.

There is an issue with the current version of veinminer using the lumber axe. Either update the mod manually or wait till the next update. The pack maintainer is aware of the issue. There is an issue with Draconic Evolution crashing servers when using veinminer so don't use that as well.
